Dr. Flores got a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Universidad Michoacana in 1984. In 1986, he earned an M.Sc. in computer science from Centro de Investigacion y Estudios Avanzados, of the Instituto Politecnico Nacional. In 1997, he earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Oregon, USA. He was a full-time professor at the Universidad Michoacana from 1986 to 2021. After retiring from the University of Michoacan, he started working as a Senior Instructor for the University of Oregon. His research deals with applications of Artificial Intelligence to Electrical Engineering, Time Series Forecasting, and Financial Analysis. He is a member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores, the Mexican Academy of Science, the Mexican Society for Artificial Intelligence, and the Mexican Society for Computer Science. Dr. Flores is the author of more than 100 scientific articles in international conferences and journals. He is a member of the editorial committee of several journals and a reviewer of journals and conferences; he is also a certified reviewer for Conacyt. He was an invited Professor-Researcher at the University of Oregon in 2005/2006, 2012/2013, and 2020/2021.
