Biografía.
I am holding a Full Professor position in computer science at CICESE Research Center (Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada), Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, and Adjunct Scientist at the ISP RAS - Institute for System Programming of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Russia. I am teaching in CICESE's postgraduate programs in computer science, a position I have held since 1995. I lead the "Laboratory of Parallel Computing" at CICESE, Mexico, and from 2016 to 2022, the "International Laboratory of Problem-Oriented Cloud Computing" at South Ural State University. I graduated from the Sevastopol Technical University in 1975. From 1975 to 1990 I worked at the Lebedev Institute of Precision Mechanics and Computer Engineering (IPMCE, ИТМиВТ) of the RAS, a leading center for supercomputer design. I gained industrial experience as a supercomputer design team leader in Advance Technical Products Corp, and Supercomputer Design Department of Electro-Mechanical Enterprise. I received my Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the IPMCE in 1986 and Dr.Sci. (habilitation) in Physical and Mathematical Sciences from the ISP RAS in 2021. I am a founding member of the Mexican Supercomputer Society (RedMexSu), a Regional President of the Global Association for Academic Supervision (GAAS) Latin America, and a member of the Mexican National Researchers System (SNI Level 3). I have led several research projects and grants in different countries funded by CONACYT, NSF, ANII, Ochoa, INRIA, FNR, UC MEXUS, DAAD, LAFMI, AMEXCID, ANII, etc. I have published over 360 papers in some of the most distinguished scientific journals and international conferences and served as a TPC member and chair of more than 250 professional peer-reviewed conferences. I have graduated 42 Ph.D. and M.S. students and served as the External Examiner for Ph.D. programs in India, Malaysia, Germany, Luxembourg. Colombia, México, and France. I am awarded a Global Scholars Fellowship at Tsinghua University (China), a German Academic Exchange Service fellowship at the University of Göttingen, Dortmund University, Technische Universität Clausthal (Germany), and a Severo Ochoa fellowship at Barcelona Supercomputing Center (Spain). I was an Invited Visiting Researcher at Centre de recherché INRIA Lille - Nord Europe (France), Université Grenoble Alpes (France), Luxembourg University (Luxembourg), Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (France), University of California–Irvine (USA), University of Southern California (USA), Université Joseph Fourier (France), UdelaR (Uruguay), São Paulo University (Brazil), Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina), etc. I am an editorial board member of several journals and served as a Guest Editor of Special Issues for major scientific publishing houses including Elsevier, Springer, MDPI, etc.
Research area: I am engaged in extensive research on grid and cloud research addressing multi-objective resource optimization, both, theoretical and experimental, security, uncertainty, scheduling, heuristics and meta-heuristics, adaptive resource allocation, energy-aware algorithms and Internet of Things (http://usuario.cicese.mx/~chernykh/)
